Dr. Sumer Doctor is a Consultant in the Department of Oculoplasty at Doctor Eye Institute, Mumbai and a Visiting consultant at Sir JJ group of Hospitals in Mumbai.
He completed his MS ophthalmology with a Gold medal and successfully completed a long-term surgical fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery, periocular aesthetics and Ocular Oncology from the reputed L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad
His clinical practice spans aesthetic eyelid surgery (upper/lower blepharoplasty, periocular fat transfer), functional eyelid reconstruction and ptosis correction, complex endoscopic DCR surgery, thyroid eye disease including orbital decompressions, ocular oncology – tumour excision, destructive eye procedures and socket reconstruction.
He has authored multiple PubMed-indexed publications and book chapters, has been recognised with awards at national Oculoplasty meetings. He serves in a leadership role as India Representative on the Young Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (YAPSOPRS) executive council.
